ART procedures are evolving, and reproductive medicine professionals are constantly adding new technologies, not only for diagnosis but also at every stage of the embryo implantation process, in order to increase birth rates.

On the other side of the Pyrenees, Dr Albert Obradors is one of those doctors at the cutting edge of research, ready to use new personalized medicine solutions for his patients. He tells us more about his clinical practice and how he uses MatriceLab to maximize embryo implantation’s efficiency and help understand recurrent pregnancy losses.

Hello Dr, thank you for taking the time to talk to us. Could you please briefly describe your background and specialization at Obradors IVF Clinic?

After studying biology and specializing in embryology, I did my doctoral thesis between Barcelona and the USA at Yale University. Today, I’m the laboratory director and manager of the Obradors IVF Clinic, which I set up in Girona, Spain, to support couples in their medically-assisted reproduction projects.

How did you get into reproductive immunology?

When our patients were suffering from several failures, either of implantation or after an abortion, and on the gynecological side we had all the information available, such as the day of receptivity or the genetic study of the embryos among others, and we didn’t understand. To go further, we decided to push our work into immunology, to try and control everything in order to better understand failures and provide new solutions for patients.

How did you hear about MatriceLab?

Thanks to one of our patients! She informed us that this endometrial immunoassay was available, and we immediately contacted MatriceLab and started using it in clinical practice a few years ago.

When and how do you use MatriceLab?

If the patient fails twice, we recommend a full endometrial study, including the MatriceLab test. The endometrial biopsy can be performed at our facility, or in France with the patient’s trusted gynecologist. In all cases, the results and recommendations are carefully studied to personalize and adapt the protocol for the next embryo implantation.

Do you use the MatriceLab test regularly?

To date, the endometrial study is part of our research protocol following 2 failed implantations.

What feedback do you get from your patients?

The feedback is positive, as we get much more information and treatment options for an embryo transfer under the best medical conditions.

What’s more, the success rate is increasing thanks to the treatments currently available on this subject, which is obviously the best possible proof of success!

What do you see as the future of a test like MatriceLab and personalized care methods?

The more personalized the treatment, the greater the patient’s chances of success. The MatriceLab test helps us to personalize care, and this is essential.

Every life course, and every medical protocol, must be personalized.

Thanks to Matricelab, and other tests/studies currently undergoing scientific validation, personalized treatment is finally possible!
